Message From the Director

Prof. Patrizia Casaccia, Director of Neuroscience Initiative

As the spring semester comes to an end, we welcome new members to the Neuroscience Initiative and are glad to look back at and celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members.

We celebrated Brain Awareness Week in March with a series of live and online activities and, in collaboration with the IlluminationSpace Hub, renewed our commitment to bringing mental health awareness to local schools (grades K-12) and local communities.

We continued to fulfill our mission by promoting research on the effect that the environment has on mental health and, in partnership with the Center on Health and Environment Across the LifeSpan (HEALS) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, we supported an interinstitutional initiative resulting in pilot grants to study the effect of climate change on health.

We are excited to see students and postdoctoral fellows move on to their next career opportunity, publish manuscripts, and receive grants and awards. Congratulations to all of the faculty members whose commitment to student education and excellence in research is exemplary.

Let’s keep a positive attitude, as we transition into the summer months.

-Patrizia
