Some 350 experts from around the world recently issued the Bonn Declaration on Global Water Supply — a sobering report on our conflicted relationship with water and the consequences of decades of thoughtless neglect and misguided decisions. Charles J. Vörösmarty, director of the ASRC’s Environmental CrossRoads Initiative, was part of the team that drafted the declaration. In an op-ed for The New York Times, he and a colleague argue that confronting the daunting challenges of a global water crisis means reconciling the competing perspectives of the world’s developed nations and those that are struggling to develop.
