In order to understand the vast complexity of biology, researchers must understand the different levels of biology, from single cells to tissues and organisms. Single cell analysis — the study of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and cell–cell interactions at the single cell level — is a powerful technique to characterize complex tissue types, identify rare cell populations, uncover regulatory relationships between genes and track cell trajectories. The CUNY ASRC Epigenetics facility is accepting applications for the Epigenetics Core Pilot Research Award, which supports one single cell 3’ gene expression project to generate data supporting grant applications by providing financial and scientific support for high-impact research.
One award will be made for a pilot project, including the following:
- Project consultation with the CUNY ASRC Epigenetics facility and 10X Genomics.
- One Chromium single cell transcriptome 3′ gene expression profiling (up to 4 samples) performed at the CUNY ASRC Epigenetics facility, recovering up to 10,000 cells/nuclei per sample.
- Library preparation and paired-end sequencing with minimum 50,000 reads/cell.
- One month usage of Partek CUNY server and Bioinformatics support from Partek Inc.

Project period: September 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024

Review Panel Designation and Criteria: The Pilot award selection process involves a panel composed of 10x members and the ARSC Epigenetics core director. This panel will carefully review all the applications and abstracts submitted. The abstracts should provide a clear understanding of the research scope and outline how the pilot study will contribute to generating data that can advance the project or be utilized in future grant applications as well as future utilization of service at the Epigenetics core.
Eligibility: Graduate students, postdocs, and full-time faculty members from all CUNY campuses (ASRC members are not eligible)
