CUNY Summer Undergraduate Research Program (CSURP)

CSURP is a ten-week summer program that offers a hands-on research experience and is open to students interested in five key research areas: environmental science, nanoscience, neuroscience, photonics, and structural biology.

In addition to hands-on research in one of the ASRC laboratories, CSURP students are offered limited free housing, metrocards and programming.  The programming includes research seminars, presentations on career development, a communications workshop and a behind the scenes tour of the American Museum of Natural History.

The program culminates in a poster session where all CSURP students present their work to faculty and research staff at the ASRC.

CREST Center for Interface Design and Engineered Assembly of Low Dimensional Systems Research Experience for Undergraduates (CREST IDEALS REU)

The NSF CREST Center IDEALS Research Experience for Undergraduates Program is a 10-week summer program at The City College of New York. The program offers hands on research in state-of-the-art facilities in the areas of Nanoscience and Materials Science hosted by faculty in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Physics.

Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates at Columbia University

The joint Materials Research Center program at Columbia University and CCNY supports outstanding undergraduates as Summer Research Fellows each summer. In addition, a joint REU program between Columbia and the ASRC may have additional openings. Those selected will participate fully in an interdisciplinary research program encompassing two research thrusts around the theme of building higher dimensional materials from lower dimensional structures with unprecedented levels of control. During the program, all REU students will also be involved in workshops, visits to local industry, training, recreational activities, a symposium of presentations by students, and other activities.
