Tom obtained a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science (Soil & Water Specialty) from Cook College – Rutgers University. After Graduation, he joined an engineering firm as an Environmental Technician before transitioning to the private environmental waste management industry. Tom held several positions over 10 years in the industry, including environmental chemist, hazmat specialist, customer service, and management roles – handling and project managing the transport disposal of hazardous materials in industrial, pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, research lab settings.

Tom then joined CUNY as a Safety Specialist at The City College of New York (CCNY) which exposed him to the larger environmental safety spectrum in addition to hazardous materials handling. This included: FDNY fire safety, lab safety, asbestos management, emergency response, radiation safety, etc. He was then promoted to EHOS Manager at CCNY, and involved in COVID-19 pandemic response planning for the campus.

In September 2020, Tom joined the ASRC as Director of Environmental Health and Safety and oversees every aspect of ASRC safety.
