J. Wren Kim, Ph.D.
Kim is a neuroscientist who studies how activity in the brain regulates gene expression and protein production. His research combines molecular tools with genomics methods to explore how neuronal networks maintain homeostasis and how disruptions in these processes may contribute to neurological disorders.
He joins the Graduate Center from the University of California, Berkeley, where he is an assistant project scientist in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. His current work focuses on gene regulation associated with neuronal activity. His earlier research examined abnormal protein production and calcium regulation in models of Parkinson’s disease.
Kim is a recipient of a NARSAD Young Investigator Grant from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and a former FRAXA Fragile X Research Foundation postdoctoral fellow. His research has appeared in Nature Chemical Biology, Cell Stem Cell, Cell, and other journals.
