Emily Jean-Pierre

Emily is a Research Assistant in the Casaccia Lab, driven by a strong research interest in neurodegenerative diseases. Prior to joining the lab, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Skidmore College. During her undergraduate career, Emily investigated mitochondrial deficits and potential therapeutic interventions for Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 1 (SCA1),utilizing CellROX™ fluorescence imaging and mitochondrial respiration metrics to quantify oxidative stress and treatment efficacy. This research sparked her deep passion for uncovering the mechanisms behind neurodegenerative diseases. Outside of the lab, Emily enjoys dancing ballet, baking, and traveling to new places.
