Speaker: Alberto Martin, Professor and Chair, Dept of Immunology, Univ of Toronto
Title: DNA damage in immunity and cancer
Abstract: Dr. Martin will present unpublished work characterizing a novel factor involved in the generation of antibodies that was identified in a genome-wide CRISPR screen. He will also present work detailing the role of gut microbes in the development of colon cancer, and how specific DNA lesions promote colon cancer, and the DNA repair pathways that suppress cancer development.
