Seminar in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Biodesign, featuring Professor Kim Orth

My lab is interested in elucidating the activity of virulence factors from pathogenic bacteria so that we can gain novel molecular insight into eukaryotic signaling systems. One of these factors encodes a Fic domain that exhibits diverse metazoans the Fic domain is used for AMPylation to maintain homeostasis in cells when under stress. Recently, we developed a pre-clinical model of dysregulated FicD AMPylation that causes infant onset diabetes.
