Virtual Field Trips Available Starting April 1, 2020!
The Advanced Research Center (ASRC) is CUNY’s premier interdisciplinary research institute, purpose built for scientific discovery and education that transcends traditional boundaries.
The ASRC is designed around five dynamic research initiatives, each occupying an entire floor. The initiatives bring together high school students, undergrads, grads, post doctoral researchers, and faculty members to collaborate on expansive new research yielding practical benefits for society.
Starting April 1, 2020, are launching a pilot virtual field trip program to replace our in-person programming for the remainder of the Spring term. During this one hour virtual experience, students will tune into a live presentation and discussion with an ASRC researcher and education facilitator.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Why research is important to society
- The different pathways into research careers and academia
- Information about CUNY’s academic programs
- An introduction to the concept of “interdisciplinary” research and the ASRC’s five research initiatives – nanoscience, photonics, structural biology, neuroscience, environmental sciences)
Virtual field trips to the ASRC IlluminationSpace are available most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
One you’ve booked, we will contact you with a Zoom link that you can share with your students. Educators and students will need: (1) access to a smartphone or a computer with internet connection; and, (2) to download the free Zoom mobile app or web browser client.
